I’ve recently received a SIAP from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to begin developing blindful. Blindful is a concept involving dance without sight. How does the able bodied dancer move when faced with the idea they’ve never seen whats around them? How does the removal of the vital sense of sight impair or enhance them physically? Does it make music and sound more crucial or is it just a physical challenge moving with out sight. It can be free and liberating moving as if no one is watching, i want to capture that freedom in the exploration of blindful.
A massive thanks to the Arts Council for funding my first project, its a massive deal for me. To receive any amount of money to work on your artistic practice is treasured. The space to get creative is being provided by Dance Resource Base, who are endlessly supportive of dance artists here in Belfast. Providing a lovely clean (and warm) studio that us poor artists can afford. You guys rock.
Studio time is next week 28th March – 1st of April, i’ll be sure to keep this updated with day to day goings on.
